For more than 25 years, our program has been at the forefront of medical education in Israel, combining rigorous scientific training with meaningful clinical experience.

Educational innovation is one of the program's core strengths. Students benefit from advanced teaching methods, including virtual reality simulation, point-of-care ultrasound training, and digital learning platforms offering both synchronous and asynchronous instruction. The curriculum exposes students to cutting-edge medical technologies while providing opportunities to pursue areas of study that align with their individual interests and career aspirations.

A key component of the program is its commitment to community engagement and strengthening healthcare services in the Galilee. Clinical training is conducted in small groups across hospitals and community clinics throughout the region, enabling students to gain hands-on experience while developing a deep understanding of the unique healthcare landscape of northern Israel. This integrated approach enriches both students' professional development and the quality of healthcare delivered to the community.

Application Process           

Graduates of the program are qualified to pursue careers as physicians across a wide range of medical specialties in hospitals, community healthcare settings, and research environments. During their studies, students participate in a 60-hour First Responder course delivered by Magen David Adom (MDA). Upon successful completion of the course, students receive First Responder certification, enabling them to volunteer at MDA stations throughout Israel.

During the first two years of the program, students build the scientific foundation required for medical studies, including core courses in the exact sciences, life sciences, and anatomy. From the very beginning of their studies, students are exposed to clinical practice in the faculty’s affiliated hospitals and to the diverse populations that make up the unique human mosaic of the Galilee.

The following year and a half is devoted to integrated studies that provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the body’s systems in health and disease, public health, and medical ethics. During these early years, students also acquire essential clinical skills, including history taking, physical examination, and communication skills.

After the first three and a half years, students are awarded a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (B.Med.Sc.) degree. During the final two and a half years, students undertake their clinical training in hospitals and community clinics affiliated with the faculty. Clinical education is conducted in small groups within real-world healthcare settings and at the patient's bedside.

    • Israeli citizenship or permanent residency.
    • Psychometric Entrance Test score of 680 or higher.
    • English proficiency at the Advanced B level or higher, demonstrated by a score of 120 or above on the English section of the Psychometric Entrance Test, AMIR, or AMIRAM examination.
    • Hebrew proficiency demonstrated by a score of 107 or above on the Verbal Reasoning section of the Psychometric Entrance Test.
    • Israeli matriculation certificate (Bagrut) with a minimum average grade of 101.

    • Mathematics matriculation examination: 4 units with a grade of 85 or above, or 5 units with a grade of 80 or above (bonus points not included).

1. Who is eligible to apply to the program?

2. What grades are required for admission?
Applicants must hold an Israeli matriculation certificate (Bagrut) with a weighted average grade of 101 or higher, complete the mathematics matriculation examination at either 4 units with a grade of 85 or higher or 5 units with a grade of 80 or higher, and achieve a valid Psychometric Entrance Test score of 680 or above.
3. Can I apply if I graduated from high school outside Israel?
Yes. International secondary school diplomas approved by the University's Academic Secretariat and meeting the admission requirements will be recognized. However, applicants must submit a valid Israeli Psychometric Entrance Test score.
4. What degree is awarded upon completion of the program?
Graduates receive the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, equivalent to the medical degree awarded by all accredited medical schools in Israel.
5. What happens if I discontinue my studies before completing the M.D. degree?
Students who successfully complete the first three years of study are eligible to receive a B.Sc. in Medical Sciences.
6. When and how do I apply?
Application deadlines and instructions are published on the Faculty's website.
7. How are applicants selected?
Applicants are ranked based on their admissions score. Offers of admission are made strictly according to this ranking. The Faculty does not operate an appeals process and does not consider exceptional admission requests.
8. Can I apply before receiving my Psychometric Entrance Test score?
Yes. However, the March/April Psychometric Entrance Test is the latest examination date accepted for admission to the academic year beginning in October of the same year.
9. What is the personality assessment process?
The personality assessment consists of a series of evaluations designed to assess personal attributes considered important for the medical profession. Please note that participation in these assessments involves an additional fee.
10. Are Mor or Merkam scores accepted?
No. Bar-Ilan University has developed its own innovative personality assessment system and does not recognize assessment results from other institutions.
11. When does the academic year begin?
Studies for the 2026-2027 academic year (5787) will begin according to the University's academic calendar on October 11, 2026.
