Admission Requirements – Six-Year M.D. Program

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility Requirements for Application

Applicants are eligible to apply if they meet all of the following requirements:

Citizenship and Residency

  • Israeli citizenship or permanent residency status.

Psychometric Entrance Test

  • A valid psychometric score of 680 or higher.
  • The latest psychometric test accepted for admission is the March/April administration of the application year.
  • SAT, ACT, MCAT, or any other standardized tests will not be accepted in place of the Israeli Psychometric Entrance Test.
  • Please note: Beginning with the 2027-2028 admissions cycle (applications opening in February 2027), admission to undergraduate and medical degree programs at Bar-Ilan University will be based on the two-domain psychometric score, consisting of verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning only. English proficiency will be determined separately through the AMIRAM/AMIRNET examination and used for placement in English language courses. Applicants who have both a three-domain and a two-domain psychometric score on record will have the higher of the two scores considered for admission.

English Language Requirement

  • A minimum level of Advanced B (Mitkadmim Bet).
  • A score of 120 or higher on the English section of the Psychometric Entrance Test or on the AMIR/AMIRAM examination.
  • Updated English proficiency scores may be submitted until July 31, 2027.

Hebrew Language Requirement (if applicable)

Applicants who graduated from a high school where the language of instruction was not Hebrew, or who took the Psychometric Entrance Test in a language other than Hebrew, must provide:

  • A score of 120 or higher on the YAEL or YAELNET examination.
  • Updated Hebrew proficiency scores may be submitted until July 31, 2027.

Matriculation Certificate (Bagrut)

  • An Israeli matriculation certificate with a weighted average grade of 101 or higher.

Mathematics Requirement

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • 4 units of Mathematics with a grade of 85 or higher (without bonus points), or
  • 5 units of Mathematics with a grade of 80 or higher (without bonus points).

Only winter examination results will be considered.
Mathematics grades from the May 2027 matriculation examinations will not be considered for admission to the 2027-2028 academic year.

International Secondary School Credentials

Secondary school credentials earned outside Israel will be recognized only upon approval by Bar-Ilan University, and provided that:

  • The grades can be converted to an Israeli equivalent.
  • The level of mathematics studies can be verified as meeting the program requirements.
  • The final credential can be evaluated against the Israeli matriculation standard.

Additional Admission Requirements

Limitation on the Number of Applications

Beginning with admissions for the 2028-2029 academic year, applicants who have applied to the program three times from the 2025-2026 academic year onward and were not admitted will no longer be eligible to apply again.

Important Information

  • The three applications do not need to be in consecutive years. The total number of applications submitted to the program will be counted cumulatively.
  • The number of applications is based on the number of times an application was submitted, regardless of whether the applicant advanced to later stages of the admissions process.
  • Applicants may apply up to three times to each medical program (the Four-Year M.D. Program or the Six-Year M.D. Program), independently of one another.

Clarifications

  • An applicant who applied for admission in the 2025-2026, 2026-2027, and 2027-2028 academic years and was not admitted will not be eligible to apply again.
  • The application count begins with admissions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Admission Based on a Pre-Academic Preparatory Program

Applicants may be considered for admission based on successful completion of a designated preparatory program in engineering and exact sciences at one of the following institutions:

  • Bar-Ilan University
  • Technion – Israel Institute of Technology
  • Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
  • The Hebrew University of Jerusalem*
  • Ariel University*

Minimum Requirements for Preparatory Program Applicants

  • Preparatory program average grade of 101 or higher.
  • Grade of 80 or higher in 5-unit Mathematics.

Note

Preparatory programs marked with an asterisk (*) will be recognized only upon successful completion of a Mathematics qualifying examination at the 5+ unit level.

This examination is administered by the Bar-Ilan University Pre-Academic Preparatory Program.

To register for the examination, applicants must:

  • Submit an application to the program.
  • Pay the required application fee.

Please note that application fees are non-refundable, even if the applicant is not admitted.

Additional Information

  • Applicants may begin the admissions process starting in the academic year following completion of the preparatory program.
  • Admission remains subject to meeting all admission requirements applicable to the relevant academic year.
Medical Fitness and Previous Medical Studies

Health Declaration

All admitted students will be required to sign a health declaration form.

Medical Fitness

Medical fitness for the study of medicine will be assessed individually by an authorized Faculty representative.

Applicants who report a medical condition will be evaluated in accordance with the Faculty's procedures for reviewing the health status of medical school applicants and students.

Applicants with Previous Medical Studies

Applicants whose studies in medicine or dentistry were discontinued for academic or disciplinary reasons are not eligible to apply to the program.

Applicants who voluntarily withdrew from medical studies may apply but will be required to submit:

  • An official letter from the institution where they studied.
  • A written explanation detailing the reasons for discontinuing their studies.

Failure to disclose relevant information constitutes a disciplinary offense and may result in disqualification from the admissions process or dismissal from the program at any stage.
