Medical Cadets
The Medical Cadet Program is a special designated program for outstanding youth.
The program is led by Galilium in partnership with the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine, with the collaboration and funding of the Ministry of Education and Atidim.
This three-year program is designed for high-achieving students in grades 10–12. It combines studies in the fields of biomedical science and scientific writing, culminating in a research project that earns graduates five academic units toward their matriculation certificate. Faculty researchers mentor the students throughout the program:
- Year One: Students are introduced to three areas of medicine and medical research, including field trips: anatomy, the immune system, and genetics and molecular biology. Each course lasts seven weeks.
- Years Two and Three: Students conduct an individual research project under the guidance of a researcher, with results summarized in a final thesis. They also attend lectures in the field of medicine and participate in field trips.
The program selects students from communities in the Upper Galilee, including Jewish, Arab, and Druze youth, based on their academic excellence and aspiration to advance in the medical sciences.
