Student Updates

As part of the Population Health course coordinated by Dr. Sivan Spitzer-Shohat, a Lifestyle Day organized by Dr. Jumanah Essa-Hadad and Dr. Lilach Malatskey took place on October 11, 2021. Activities for the first-year students included lectures, yoga, tabata, and a healthy eating workshop. Pictures can be seen here.
This academic year opened smoothly, with frontal lectures the norm after last year’s Covid-19 restrictions. We wish our students (151 new medical students, a substantial increase from last year) success.

Visit of Palacky University Olomouc

The BIU International School hosted a visit of delegates from the Palacky University from the Czech Republic, to the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in Safed, on October 13, 2021.

The purpose of the visit was to explore options for academic collaboration and indeed, an MOU was signed with BIU.

Palacky participants included the Rector and President, Prof. Martin Procházka; Vice Dean for Internationalization, Prof. Milan Raška; Manager of Palacký University-Israeli Partners Cooperation, Eva Kalousová.

The delegation visited the Galilee Medical Center and among others, met with the General Director, Dr. Masad Barhoum, as well as Prof. Tzipora C. Falik-Zaccai, Azrieli Vice Dean, Medical Research, who was instrumental in arranging the visit.

The visit to the Faculty included meetings with the Dean, Prof. Karl Skorecki, and various researchers.

Spokesperson’s Office Visits GMC

Representatives from the Bar-Ilan U. Spokesperson’s Office visited Azrieli Faculty of Medicine affiliate, the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, on October 18, 2021. Among others, they met with Prof. Samer Srouji and Dr. Amiel Dror. The purpose of the visit was to become more personally acquainted with the researchers with whom the Faculty works so closely, and most especially, to learn more about the many initiatives, both in research and practice, taking place under Prof. Srouji’s leadership.

Visit of Maor Pinko to the Azrieli Faculty in Safed

Maor Pinko, BIU Deputy Director General of Administration and Human Resources, visited the Safed campus on October 12, 2021 to meet with BIU staff working from the Safed campus. Group as well as individual meetings took place.
