Admission Requirements - Three-Year M.D. Program

Admission Requirements for the 2027-2028 Academic Year (Three-Year M.D. Program)

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Hold a full matriculation certificate (Bagrut) or equivalent qualification.
• Achieve a Psychometric Entrance Test score of 600 or higher.

Applying Without a Psychometric Entrance Test Score

Applicants for the 2027-2028 academic year may submit an application even if they do not yet have a Psychometric Entrance Test score at the time of application.

• A Psychometric Entrance Test score may be submitted up to and including the April 2027 examination date.
• Applicants who successfully pass the initial screening stage may receive a conditional admission offer, pending fulfillment of all admission requirements.
• Applicants who do not achieve the required Psychometric Entrance Test score will be removed from the admissions process, even if they have successfully completed earlier selection stages.

In addition:

• Applicants who apply without a qualifying Psychometric score may take the examination in either the December or April testing session.
• Applicants proceeding through the admissions process without a valid Psychometric score will remain in conditional status until official scores are received from the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation (NITE).
• Failure to meet the minimum Psychometric requirement by the final deadline will result in disqualification from the admissions process, regardless of performance in other selection stages.
• Scores from examinations administered after the April 2027 test date will not be accepted.

For the avoidance of doubt, applying and participating in the admissions process without a valid Psychometric Entrance Test score is entirely the applicant's responsibility. Bar-Ilan University accepts no responsibility for any financial or other loss resulting from failure to meet the admission requirements.

Hebrew Language Requirement

Applicants who took the Psychometric Entrance Test in a language other than Hebrew, or who graduated from a high school where the language of instruction was not Hebrew, must also take the YAEL Hebrew Proficiency Examination and achieve a score of 120 or higher.

This requirement has been in effect since admissions for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Medical Studies Abroad

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Successfully complete all required and elective coursework during the first three years of medical studies abroad.
• Be enrolled in a six-year general medicine program at a recognized university abroad located in an OECD member country, or at another institution approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health, in accordance with the Ministry's current guidelines.
• Complete three full years of study at the same recognized institution, in accordance with the criteria established by Prof. Yatziv and the Israeli Council for Higher Education.

Please Note

The application, selection, and admission process takes place only at the end of the fourth semester (the end of the second year of studies abroad).

Applicants who are admitted to the program must:

• Complete their third year of medical studies abroad.
• Obtain official certification confirming eligibility to progress to the fourth year of medical studies and successful completion of all academic requirements.
• Begin their studies at the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee only after fulfilling these requirements.

In addition:

• All courses taken during the first three years of study must be completed successfully.
• All examinations during the first three years of study must be passed successfully.
• Applicants must obtain official certification of eligibility to advance to the fourth year.
• Coursework for which exemptions were granted on the basis of previous studies in Israel or abroad will not be recognized.

Health Requirements

Applicants whose health condition raises concerns regarding their ability to meet the academic requirements of the program, or whose condition may pose a risk to themselves or others, will be evaluated in accordance with the Faculty of Medicine's procedures for assessing the health status of applicants and students.

Application and Registration

Application Period

The only opportunity to apply to the program is at the end of the fourth semester of medical studies abroad, in accordance with the dates published in the official application and registration guidelines.

Number of Applications

Applicants may apply to the program only once.

Applicant Responsibility

Applicants are responsible for:

• Monitoring the program and Faculty websites regularly.
• Keeping track of registration and application deadlines.
• Completing the online application process in accordance with the instructions published on the website.
