1,000 Children, 100 Medical Students, and Countless Smiles

Approximately 1,000 children and their parents visited the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee on June 22 for the annual Teddy Bear Hospital event—one of the Faculty’s most beloved and heartwarming community outreach initiatives.

Children arrived with their favorite teddy bears and stuffed animals, which received a full day of “medical care,” including examinations, treatments, and interactive educational activities. The program is designed to reduce anxiety surrounding visits to clinics and hospitals by introducing children to the world of healthcare in a friendly and non-threatening environment.

The event was led by approximately 100 medical students, who staffed 10 activity stations simulating different hospital departments and providing children with an engaging and educational experience. In addition, graduate psychology students conducted resilience workshops for both children and their stuffed companions, teaching practical tools for coping with stress and anxiety.
