Coming Up: Teddy Bear Hospital!לוגו מתת

The Azrieli Faculty of Medicine Teddy Bear Hospital is back!

Last year, 2020, this community-wide annual event was unfortunately unable to take place, due to Corona. This year, we will be online, thanks again to the generosity of Freddie Zinger who has made this unique hand-on interactive learning experience possible.

Children of pre-school and elementary school ages are invited to register with their parents (here), to tell us a bit about what ails their teddy bears and/or dolls – and receive online treatment by our expert team of specialists led by dedicated doctors and medical school students.Teddy Bear Hospital

The online event – an opportunity aimed at reducing stress and alleviating fears that children may have about hospitals, doctors, and medical care in general – will be held in Hebrew on Monday May 3, 2021 from 5PM to 7:30 PM.

We hope you will join us!

Azrieli and the Community

The Azrieli Faculty of Medicine prides itself on its excellent research and education. But what sets us apart is that community involvement is equally a top priority. Dr. Sivan Spitzer-Shohat, Head of Population Health Education, has shared with us some important recent developments.Sivan Spitzer-Shohat

Dr. Spitzer-Shohat hosted a regional gathering at the Faculty on April 12, 2021. She spoke about the Faculty and its community involvement, including the new diabetes SPHERE program. Sixteen municipal health promotors from across the Galilee attended.

She was also invited to write a paper for the AcademyHealth Paradigm Project, on the future of health services research. The paper, “Unbounding a Discipline to Bind Innovative Change: A New Paradigm for Health Services Research,” can be viewed here.

And she adds, “I am leading a new cooperation with Shenkar in which design students are thinking of solutions to improve the patient journey basing their solutions on medical students' ETGAR [home visits after hospital discharge] experiences. They presented their preliminary ideas before continuing to prototype development.

Rare Blood Donation Drive, Thanks to Dr. Amir Kuperman

Dr. Amir Kuperman of the Galilee Medical Center, an affiliated hospital, has shared with us an article that was published locally on April 23, 2021 about a special blood donation drive that recently took place for a young boy in the north who suffers from a rare blood disease. Nineteen units were collected, allowing two other patients to benefit from the drive. The blood type is so rare that Magen David Adom was unable to supply the necessary units. The patient is being treated by Dr. Kuperman who praised the organization and success of the drive.
